Van Patrol Outreach Service

Description

The Van Patrol Outreach Service is a Support Services project operated by Main Street Project. This project plays an important role in providing evening and overnight outreach support services to vulnerable community members. Utilizing a harm reduction approach, this initiative addresses the immediate needs of individuals during the critical hours when most other services are unavailable.

Its services include the distribution of basic necessities and harm reduction supplies, as well as transportation to and from shelters, ensuring those in need can reach safe locations efficiently. The Van Patrol Outreach Service also collaborates closely with other community outreach services, enhancing the overall support network and ensuring seamless service delivery.

The Van Patrol features a resource referral system, enabling citizens to report concerns about community members in need of assistance with homelessness, addiction, mental health, or other challenges, after standard service hours. This system ensures that individuals receive timely and appropriate help, thereby contributing significantly to community safety and well-being.
