Waskahikanihkew meaning "Building a Home," is a Housing Supports and Support Services project operated by Ikwe. The project is tailored to assist women, children, and gender-diverse individuals affected by gender-based violence. The program provides them with safe and affordable housing, laying a stable foundation for them to rebuild their lives. This essential support acts as a springboard for recovery and personal growth, enabling participants to move forward in a secure environment.
Beyond offering housing, Waskahikanihkew enriches its participants with life skills and cultural programming. This dual approach not only prepares individuals and families for successful reintegration into the community but also reconnects them with their cultural roots, which is vital for their healing and personal development. The programming is thoughtfully designed to foster resilience and empower participants as they navigate their recovery journey.
