The Women's Correction Centre - Homelessness Diversion Pilot Project is Prevention/Shelter Diversion project operated by Native Clan Organization. The project assists women exiting the Women's Correction Centre to prevent them from entering homelessness. NCO connects with participants prior to their release dates to determine eligibility for their services. Those who qualify receive discharge planning and short-term financial assistance to avoid being released into homelessness.
Participants also benefit from Client Support Services such as budgeting advice, support with obtaining IDs, and housing setup where appropriate. These services are designed to provide a stable foundation as participants transition back into the community, helping them to secure and maintain stable housing and integrate successfully into society.
By addressing immediate needs and facilitating long-term stability, the program aims to reduce the risk of recidivism and support participants in building productive lives. This holistic approach ensures that women exiting corrections have the resources and support necessary to reintegrate effectively and achieve lasting stability.
