Zaagi Toowaad

Description

Zaagi Toowaad, which means 'If They Like It' is a Prevention/Shelter Diversion project operated by Siloam Mission. The project is tailored to support 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, with a focus on those who are Indigenous, Black, and racialized, and who are at risk of homelessness or have previous experience with homelessness.

The Zaagi Toowaad Program engages in minor crisis intervention and works to prevent housing breakdowns by providing immediate connections to appropriate services. The aim is to avoid the use of shelter spaces whenever possible, ensuring that participants receive the direct support needed to maintain stable housing.

Additionally, Zaagi Toowaad assists participants in developing materials and training resources to facilitate knowledge translation among community members. This project empowers individuals to confidently navigate various systems independently, enhancing their ability to sustain housing stability and successfully integrate into their communities.
